If Tallinn has free public transport, why not Warsaw?

Np. wzorem stolicy Estonii Tallina? "

Serbia: people oppose plan for raising fares on public transport

The introduction of Bus-Plus electronic cards robbery in GSP will become more sophisticated and of course legalized!

The introduction of so-called electronic tickets for a ride on public transport in Belgrade is another form of cruel robbing people for the sake of city officials, as well as companies in which they do not know the owners or managers. The three horsemen of the apocalypse in the case of GSP, its employees and customers, called Apex, Lanus and Kentkart.

The city government has issued a tender on their own initiative, without any consultation with the public carrier. It was not even done any study to show that private business and jobs better and cheaper to perform than I GSP Beograd.

Everything is done in secret and hidden, and with it very quickly, so the conclusion that the said consortium prior to the announcement of the tender was declared the winner.

It is therefore not surprising that the members ride quality does not improve, or prices will be reduced. The ultimate goal of the whole project is the introduction of another through taxes levied to accounts of private companies that are pouring into the pockets of the city's rulers.

Freedom of movement in the city of a million is not the same as freedom of movement outside. If you do not have that freedom, we are not free citizens but are prisoners of a city.

We ordinary people of this city, you might encounter every day in my neighborhood, on the street, in a park, public transportation, we believe that the time has come for everyone to be free to raise their voices and demand their basic rights.

We believe that the overall social and civic solidarity driving force of change.

Opinion that the money, insatiable lust for power, or the unscrupulous competition among the people should improve, it will not produce anything new except more of the same as always.

Public transportation, our transportation. It is a public, common good of all citizens, created by the vital need for mobility in urban conditions and the need to be and to serve.

Open letter to car driver from the cyclist who received his abuse

A letter to a driver….. | Pete Plowman`s Cycleone: "Dear Car Driver,

Firstly, please forgive me for not writing to you by name, as unfortunately a) The few words that you shouted did not contain a name and b) You did not seem to want to stop and speak."

Free public transport

Planka.nu: "Public transportation is not something you can compromise on. It is the lifeblood of the city and is a collective affair, a prerequisite for the city's economic and social life to work. The public transport is too expensive is both a structural problem and a tangible reality for individuals. It is not fair that a millionaire and an unemployed pay as much for public transport. With tax-funded, free, public transportation, you will pay each according to ability."

We need a national network of public transport free at the point of use

David Lindsay: Omnibus: "We need a national network of public transport free at the point of use, including the reversal of bus route and rail line closures going back to the 1950s.

And we need to be able to get on a train, or a tram, or a bus in the centre of one village, town or city, in order to be able to get off it in the centre of another.

Only public ownership can deliver this. Public ownership is of course British ownership, and thus a safeguard of national sovereignty."

Egypt's new age of unrest is a taste of things to come

Nafeez Ahmed | guardian.co.uk:
"Egypt's oil production peaked in 1996, and since then has declined by around 26%.
...
Egypt has suffered from horrendous debt levels at about 80.5% of its GDP, far higher than most other countries in the region. Inequality is also high, widening over the last decade in the wake of neoliberal 'structural adjustment' reforms implemented throughout the region since the 1980s with debilitating effects, including contraction of social welfare, reduction of wages, and lack of infrastructure investment."
