The latest opposition to free public transport

I have read and heard a lot about criticism of the free public transport concept,
But this last one is hilarious.
They said: "The FPT would decrease the use of bicycles and walking in the cities."
It's the opposite. More well organized public transport, most parking lots are filled with bicycles.
Are they asserting that the use of the private car incentives to walk and cycle?

Malta should consider making public transport free, says writer

MaltaToday.com.mt: "This can only be achieved through a mixture of incentives and disincentives: more use of night buses, a gradual movement from the Valletta-centred system by creating good direct connections between other urban hubs, and an ‘Oyster card’ system for regular users. Free public transport on the Estonian model could also be explored – at least on some days of the year."

In rush hour 2% of vehicles create 20% of extra congestion

French union calls for EU to increase public transport funding | EurActiv: "According to the UTP, “In France, 2% of traffic in city centres during rush hour causes 20% of extra congestion. More broadly, cars are responsible for 40% of CO2 emissions released by road traffic, and up to 70% of other pollutants, therefore generating extremely high external costs.”"

Price more important than quality in attracting #publictransit riders

Berlin: Promotion of free public transport - FTU - August 80: "The achievements of the "capital of the free public transport", ie the Estonian Tallinna said Allan Alaküla (director of the office of the Estonian capital, Brussels).
